Removing stuck bullets from barrels
It is very easy to damage the bore of a rifle while removing stuck bullets and cartridge cases. The only way to do it and guaranty that an expensive barrel will not be wreaked or damaged is to do it hydraulically.
The barreled action is placed into the lathe and the high grease pressure system is locked into the muzzle. The grease cylinder is filled to capacity and pressured up by advancing the screw. Fluids do not compress much and for common physics they are basically non-compressible. In this case the customer filled the barrel with wooden doweling to try to push the bullet out himself. The bullet will seal and will be driven out but the grease flows around the doweling. A lead piston is hammered in behind the wood and seals the bore. The bullet, sticks the lead piston are driven completely through and clear of the bore. No damage to the barrel, no muss, no fuss, lots of mess!
