Vista Outdoor Brands Support Youth Shooting
Three Vista Outdoor brands announce their latest initiatives in support of youth shooting.
RCBS, manufacturer of precision reloading equipment for rifles and pistols, has awarded its 2019 youth shooting sports donation of $9,770 to the National 4-H Shooting Sports Program.
Each year RCBS dedicates a portion of the proceeds from sales of its Explorer and Explorer Plus reloading kits to a youth shooting sports program. The company also sponsors the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships, which draws more than 900 youth from the roughly 400,000 who participate in 4-H Shooting Sports around the country.
Federal Ammunition continued its commitment to youth sport shooting when it returned as a platinum level sponsor of the 2019 Trap Shooting Championship in June. More than 330 high school teams featuring 8,300-plus student athletes attended the nine-day event. The championship is the qualifying team competition for the Minnesota State High School League’s state tournament.
Champion Range and Target awarded 2019 Tom Knapp Memorial Scholarships of $2,500 each to two 4-H student-ambassadors in Alabama and Missouri. Christina Green from Enterprise, Ala., and Hunter Todd from Centerview, Mo., received the scholarships at the recent National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships in Nebraska.
Applicants for the scholarship that honors legendary exhibition shooter Tom Knapp are required to be 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassadors with a 3.0 or higher GPA, and be enrolled in an accredited college or university. Champion and the National 4-H Shooting Sports Committee co-sponsor the scholarship, funded through an extension of Knapp’s Champion-licensed products.
“We’re thrilled these young people are interested in carrying on the tradition of shooting sports in Mr. Knapp’s memory,” said Jon Zinnel, then-Champion education and conservation outreach manager. (He now serves as Federal and CCI’s conservation and youth shooting sports program manager.) “We look forward to following Christina and Hunter, and watching the future impact they will have on this industry.”
