A Deep Dive Into the Black Guns Matter Fight At the Sanders Rally ~ VIDEO
Denver, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- Earlier this week at a Bernie Sanders rally, an unnamed black man wearing a Black Guns Matter shirt was called a racist and attacked by a 30-something-year-old white man.
There has been a lot of stories around the internet about the incident, but AmmoLand wanted to do a deep dive into what exactly happened at the rally. AmmoLand teamed up with the founder of Black Guns Matter, Maj Toure, to get to the bottom of what transpired.
The Bernie Supporter only identified as Tyler attended the rally. The three men next to him, booed Sanders when he started talking about restricting gun rights. Tyler looked over and saw one of the men wearing a shirt that said, “Black Guns Matter.”
Tyler said to the man, “Let me take a picture of your racist shirt.” According to Tyler, he didn’t notice that the man was black. He said he thought the man was trying to equate gun rights to black lives and felt the need to do something about it. He says he was just exercising his First Amendment Right.
The man wearing the Black Guns Matter shirt, who works as armed security, called Tyler a “retard.” Tyler claimed that the man in the shirt got into his face and started tapping Tyler on his head with his phone. Tyler pushed away from the man’s hand, and that is when the man put him in a headlock. He says he took the man down, and the two were then separated by other bystanders. Tyler insists that the man attacked him.
The problem with Tyler’s story is that every video of the incident shows that Tyler was the aggressor in the fight. When asked if there is any video of the guy in the BGM shirt attacking him, Tyler says no one recorded it. I was able to track down six different videos of the fight, and none backs up Tyler’s story.

The video shows exactly what the man wearing the Black Guns Matter said transpired in the confrontation. Tyler called the shirt racist. The man calls Tyler a retard. Tyler then attacks the man. No video that I have turned up gives any credence to Tyler’s side of the story.
This lack of evidence isn’t the only hole in Tyler’s story. He told CBS Denver that he started recording the men booing. He says one of the men noticed him filming and shoved him through the metal railing. If that was the case, then Tyler should have a video which he admits he doesn’t have. Now Tyler admits it was over the message on the shirt, but says he is a “second amendment ally.”
“I’m from guns,” Tyler said. “I support guns. I support your right to own a gun. I support my right to own a gun, and I support everyone’s right to own a gun.”
Tyler said he was a victim of a home invasion in April of 2013 when he and his girlfriend were held for 30 minutes by three armed masked men. He says that even after the incident, he still supported gun rights. The man who runs a “positive lifestyle brand” in the cannabis industry says he doesn’t own a gun because he is a medical marijuana patient and therefor is a prohibited person. He says he would like to work to change the laws regarding marijuana and guns.
Even though Tyler called the shirt racist, he says the confrontation was not about race.
“I am not black,” Tyler said. “I am Caucasian. I grew up in a place where there are mostly white people. I never experienced racism. Today I have. My inbox is full of people bringing up my race.”
Maj Toure is sending Tyler some Black Guns Matter merchandise and challenged Tyler to wear it and post pictures. Tyler agreed to do it and said he “respected” what Black Guns Matter does for the 2A community. Toure doesn’t think Tyler owns up to his part in the fight.
“People should ask questions before they assume,” Toure said. “And they definitely should ask questions of people wearing shirts that say ‘Black Guns Matter,’ who also might be armed, before trying to touch them.”
The person in the Black Guns Matter shirt is originally from New York. The Draconian gun laws of the Empire State caused him to move to Colorado. He likes the fact that he can open carry or concealed carry a gun if he so chooses in the state.
